Rock Ridge High School just earned an award for excellence in education.
According to a release from Loudoun County Public Schools, the Ashburn high school received the 2022 Cognia Schools of Distinction Award for excellence in education and stand out service to learners.
The award was presented by Duane Moore and Dr. Myra Sawyers of Cognia during a school faculty meeting.
Cognia is a global non-profit organization “dedicated to helping institutions and other education providers grow learners, teachers and leaders,” the release said. Cognia serves 36,000 institutions, both public and private, in more than 85 countries. Each year, the organization recognizes “schools and systems that best exemplify excellence in education and stand out in their service to learners, based on the results of a rigorous accreditation process.”
In the release, Sawyers said Rock Ridge was specifically recognized for its “strong leadership, a culture of collaboration and support that fosters a mindset of excellence. The school’s leaders, professional staff, support staff, parents and students are committed to excellence in education.”
It’s not the first time an LCPS school has won. Last year, Briar Woods High School received the 2021 Cognia Schools of Distinction Award.
